   This 1/2″ siphon reduces the time to transfer my wine between racking because of the larger Inside Diameter obviously but it’s also easier and cleaner to use than siphoning by mouth on the end of your filling tube.The small plastic tip on the end of the siphon helps to reduce the amount of Lees that get into the siphon but it is not totally necessary as it has a friction fit on the end of the siphon and can or may be knocked off if your not careful. The siphon will work great with or without the addition of the tip at the end.The length is great to reach the bottom of the 6 gallon Carboy if you need to and still have plenty of room to hold the siphon at the top.This siphon can be easily taken apart for cleaning and sanitation.

   I’ve been using ad old style siphon for years now – stick the rigid tube in the carboy, suck the air out of the siphon tube by mouth, put the tube in the bucket and swallow some wine. I thought that was the way everyone did it until I found this – it is much easier to use than the old method. Put the tube in the carboy, pull the inner tube up about a foot and push it down. Works great. Easy to clean up after as the parts separate easily. Just be sure to use a long enough flexible tube.
